Scary witches, sparkling princesses, bloody zombies, Superman — whatever your costume choice, now is the time to show it off to everyone.
The Shawano County Fairgrounds was the popular place to be Oct. 17 when the annual trunk-or-treat event was held.
Halloween is more than just a spooky celebration; it’s a monstrous driver of economic growth.
According to the National Retail Federation, Americans are projected to spend $13.1 billion on Halloween in 2025, up from $11.6 billion last year.
NRF also reports that 73% of consumers in the U.S. plan to celebrate Halloween in varied forms:
• 78% of celebrants intend to buy decorations.
• 66% plan to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.
• 51% plan to dress in costume.
Like the event at the fairgrounds, there are a few other events in the area that will be held before Oct. 31.
The Oconto Falls Trick-or-Treat Trail will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at the West Side Trail at West Side Beach. Trail groups depart every half hour, with the final trail time at 11:30 a.m.
Suring will host a Halloween party from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the fire department. Trick-or-treating will follow in the community from 4-6 p.m.
Pumpkin Palooza will be held from 3-5 p.m., Oct. 25 at Pulaski Polka Days Grounds, 448 E. Pulaski St. Activities include pumpkin picking, hayrides, music, trunk-or-treating and a haunted trail.
There will be a truck-or-treat event from 5-10 p.m. Oct. 25 at Little Suamico Park.
The Shawano Area Free and Accepted Masons will host a Spooktacular Halloween Party for children ages 2-12 from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 26 behind the Masonic Center at 2334 E. Richmond St., Shawano. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Activities include free soda and hot dogs, free candy, children’s games with prizes, and one of the area’s largest Halloween displays.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Community trunk-or-treat will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Ella Besaw Center.
A Keshena community Halloween event will be held from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 30 at the College of Menominee Nation.
Several area communities will hold trick-or-treat hours on Halloween. They include:
• Bonduel 5-7 p.m.
• Cecil 5-7 p.m.
• Gillett 4-6 p.m.
• Gresham 4-7 p.m.
• Keshena 5-7 p.m.
• Krakow 4-7 p.m.
• Marion 5-7 p.m.
• Menominee Reservation 5-7 p.m.
• Neopit 5-7 p.m.
• Oconto Falls 4-6 p.m.
• Pulaski 4-7 p.m.
• Shawano 5-7 p.m.
• Tigerton 5-7 p.m.
• Wittenberg 4-6 p.m.
A free youth pumpkin hunt will be held from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Green Lake Park Picnic Shelter, 13322 State Highway 32, Mountain. Youths must be accompanied by an adult. All participants receive a small gift, and there will be five main prizes for youths who find a hidden pumpkin in the park.
