Another banner year is expected for the Hometown Heroes group that honors local veterans.
Applications for veterans to be featured on a banner hung along South Main Street are now being accepted.
Each banner will display the veteran’s name, branch of service, and a military photo or logo. Banners will be displayed on South Main Street, beginning at the Elizabeth Street intersection and heading south. The banners will be displayed from Memorial Day to around Veterans Day in alphabetical order.
Limited space is available.
Active service members or honorably discharged veterans are eligible to be featured. Anyone with service in the U.S. Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, National Guard or Reserves can be recognized.
All honorees must either live or have lived in the 54166 ZIP code.
Each banner costs $250. Anyone can fund a banner, including the veteran, veteran’s family, nominee, business, etc.
The cost covers the expenses for the banner and bracket.
All information and payments are due by March 31.
