Nurse: Education helps with breastfeeding

While most U.S. infants receive some breast milk, only 27.9% are exclusively breastfed through six months, well below the Healthy People 2030 target of 42.4%, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Health experts say access to breastfeeding education and lactation support before and after childbirth can help families overcome common challenges and continue breastfeeding for as long as they choose.

Pediatrician suggests family meals for good health

Between school, sports, work and after-school activities, finding time for everyone in the family to eat together on a regular basis can feel nearly impossible.

However, research shows families don’t need to share dinner every night to experience meaningful benefits. Just three meals together each week can make a big difference.

Kernels of fun at Bonduel Lions event

The line was constant as thousands of people took part in the 68th annual Bonduel Lions Corn Roast on Aug. 7 at Village Park. There were over 7,000 cobs of corn for people to enjoy along with plenty of other food. Folks were entertained by the band New Generation, along with some Little League baseball games.

Church secretary covers a multitude of bases

The secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion covers multiple roles, including meeting the care concerns of anyone who walks in the door.

“The main point of my job is to serve the Lord — and His people — in any capacity needed,” said office manager Sheri Fuhrman.

Always wanting to work at a church, Fuhrman applied for and landed the secretarial position at St. John’s in December 2019.
