Meet Jim Barshaw

Jim Barshaw has been on the board of Habitat for Humanity and is in charge of completing the current home on Lafayette Street in Shawano. Barshaw was born in Neenah and graduated from Menasha High School. He worked in the printing business for a short time before he volunteered for the draft.
Family Crossfires reunites, strengthens families
The past and the present came together when the Rev. Rick Buhrke was installed at Zion Lutheran Church in Zachow where there hasn‘t been a sole pastor for over 90 years. Buhrke and his family can now promote the ministry, Family Crossfires, which endeavors to prevent and heal family breakdowns. “God brought us all together for a reason,” said Rhonda Buhrke, the pastor’s wife and director of Family Crossfires.

Future looks bright for sports mods at speedway
The future of racing at the Shawano Speedway was on display Saturday night in the IMCA Sport Mod claim area as the rain drops began to fall. Two rookies in the division have shown that the future of racing is very bright. Second-generation racer Jordan Bartz, of Shawano, scored her first career feature win in only her fifth start.

Bonduel Legion defeats Wittenberg 6-5
Trevor Homan hit a walk-off RBI single in the seventh inning as the Bonduel American Legion team beat Wittenberg 6-5 Tuesday at Jack Reinke Field in Bonduel. The two teams entered the seventh inning tied at 5-5. Solid pitching from Connor Rosin, in relief of Brandon Hagel, held Wittenberg scoreless. In the bottom of the seventh, Wittenberg pitcher Cory Mortenson walked Jake Luepke.
Parker wins Late Model main
Paul Parker used a caution flag to his advantage to take home the Late Model feature win at Shawano Speedway. Brandon Czarapata remains unbeaten in IMCA Stock Car features at the Speedway, while his cousin Jason Czarapata won the IMCA Modified feature. Cody Hokenstad won his first-ever feature at the Speedway in the IMCA Northern SportMod division.
