WNA launches editorial writing, cartoon contest

As a continuation of its efforts to increase civic education and engagement, the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation has launched the Wisconsin Civics Games Editorial Writing and Cartoon Contest. The contest will celebrate the rights established by the First Amendment.
Pediatrician recommends whooping cough vaccination
As the COVID-19 vaccine rolls out, patients should also remember the importance of vaccinating for whooping cough – most importantly, the youngest patients of all. Whooping cough, or pertussis, is a highly contagious, person-to-person bacterial respiratory disease. Its name comes from the gasping sound that adults and children make as they breathe deeply in between coughing fits.
Garden expo sponsored by PBS goes virtual
For the past three decades, the PBS Wisconsin Garden and Landscape Expo has brought a touch of spring-like warmth and lots of gardening and landscaping inspiration to the middle of the cold Wisconsin winter. In 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 28th annual Garden and Landscape Expo will offer that same inspiration — and warmth of spring — in an online-exclusive, virtual experience Feb. 20-21.
DATCP extends eviction moratorium to March 31
Recent federal legislation and an order from the director of the Centers for Disease Control extends a September 2020 order that protects tenants from eviction based on nonpayment of rent, will now run through March 31. “Wisconsin renters should know that they are not automatically entitled to protections under the CDC order,” said Lara Sutherlin, administrator of DATCP’s Division of Trade and Consumer Protection.
