As of June 22, state Highway 47 in Menominee County was closed to through traffic from County Road VV (West) to the Langlade County line. The closure is anticipated to continue until the middle of August. Northeast Asphalt held an informational meeting on the project June 23 at the Wolf River Development Company, W2828 Go Around Road, Keshena.
Access by local traffic and emergency services will be maintained throughout the closure.
Local traffic may experience wait times when encountering work operations along the roadway.
Traffic will travel on gravel surfaces for portions of the project.
The first week of the reconstruction project included:
• Removing the guardrail from Crow Settlement Road to Wheelock Road.
• Sawing asphalt and stump grubbing from County Road VV (West) to the Langlade County line.
• Pulverizing pavement at culverts from County Road VV (West) to Camp Road 26.
• Culvert replacement from County Road VV (West) to Crow Settlement Road.
When the culvert work on Highway 47 is completed, it will be reopened and state Highway 55 will be closed to through traffic from Highway 47 to the Langlade County Line for about 55 days.
The contractor plans to place new asphalt pavement on Highway 47 this fall as well, with the remaining asphalt paving for the project finishing in 2027.
Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with a flagging operation during paving.
All operations, locations and durations are estimated and subject to change.
