• Jenny L. Tennant, 46, Gillett, pleaded no contest Aug. 19 to felony bail jumping, escape from criminal arrest, misappropriating ID information to avoid penalty, and misdemeanor counts of possession of an illegally obtained prescription and prostitution. Judge Michael Judge sentenced her Aug. 26 to three years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision with conditions.

Thousands of people visiting for the annual Shawano County Fair got to see the changes made this year to the ground’s show space and one of its dairy barns.

Mike Trinko picked to fill county board vacancy

Mike Trinko is the newest member of the Shawano County Board of Supervisors.

Trinko was appointed Aug. 27 to fill the vacancy create by the resignation of Raymond Rigsby, who was appointed last month as the new county clerk.

He will represent District 22 until the April 2026 election. He also serves on the Seneca Town Board.

County Board Chairman Tom Kautza said he had five residents express interest int he job.

Groundbreaking begins SCHS projects

One public cheer for a $51.2 million referendum was not enough for the Shawano School District, so it held a second groundbreaking Aug. 26 — this time for Shawano Community High School, which carries the bulk of the future projects.

$100K door access project OK’d by board

The Shawano School Board signed off Aug. 26 on more than $100,000 being spent to upgrade its door access security.
