• Judge Katherine Sloma dismissed three cases dating back to 2020 and 2022 against Breanna M. Tindle, 32, of Clintonville, for lack of prosecution. During a Nov. 4 pre-trial hearing, Assistant District Attorney Edward Burke said a plea agreement offer had been started but not completed. Sloma said the defense attorney had asked for an offer since August 2024. She gave Burke until Nov.

• Gary Koehnke, 47, Crivitz, pleaded no contest Nov. 10 to misdemeanor charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (first offense) and resisting or obstructing an officer. A felony count was dismissed in a plea agreement. Judge Michael Judge levied fines and court costs, revoked Koehnke’s license for nine months and placed him on one year of probation with conditions.

Duties of new county leader could be scaled back

A new job description is in the works for the Shawano County administrative coordinator job, one that could even see the role reduced to a part-time position.

Members of the county executive committee are reviewing the role and responsibilities following the October resignation of Jim Davel, who held the post since May 2021.

Shawano County awarded cybersecurity grant

Shawano County was awarded a three-year grant for cybersecurity measures, according to Matt Hietpas, technology services director.

The county received $87,095.70 as part of the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. These funds represent the federal share of project costs.

The purpose of the program is to assist state, local and territorial governments with managing and reducing systemic cyber risk.

Work begins on stadium

Athletic complex construction at Shawano Community High School is well underway. A new traffic pattern has been implemented due to the project, which is part of the school referendum building plans.
