• Carla Ann Shafman, 32, Hancock, pleaded no contest Jan. 22 to child abuse recklessly causing harm. Judge Jay Conley approved a deferred judgment agreement withholding a guilty finding for 18 months if conditions are met.
Deputies responded to 48 incidents, including three traffic stops, three citizen assists, three miscellaneous traffic incidents, three welfare checks; two open-line 911 calls; 11 ambulance calls; three crashes, one involving deer.
