• Joleen M. Hawpetoss, 57, Shawano, pleaded no contest April 15 to an ordinance violation of possession of THC. The charge was amended from a felony. Jusge Katherine Sloma levied a $100 fine plus court costs.
• Blanca Marie Marshall, 19, De Pere, pleaded no contest April 15 to a misdemeanor charge of possession of THC. A related felony bail jumping charge was dismissed in a plea agreement. Judge Jay Conley imposed but stayed a jail sentence and placed her on one year of probation with conditions.
Crunching numbers isn’t for everyone, but for Isaac Patterson, it’s what he does.
Now he’s doing it for the city of Shawano as its new finance director. Patterson is replacing Brian Della, who was hired in December 2024 but has moved on to be a financial analyst for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority.
As if area communities aren’t already drenched with rain and worried about flooding, more severe weather is in the forecast.
The National Weather Service predicts a chance for severe thunderstorms and locally heavy rainfall south of a line from Wisconsin Rapids to Sturgeon Bay late this afternoon and evening (April 14). Large hail and strong winds will be the primary threats. Isolated tornadoes are also possible south of Highway 10.
