The spooky fun does not have to end with Halloween.
J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue will bring its Creepy Crawly Creature Feature live animal program to Lena Public Library, 200 E. Main St., Lena, at noon Nov. 2.
The event will give families an opportunity to meet some of nature’s most fascinating — and often misunderstood — animals.
The live animal program combines science, wildlife education and a little spooky-season fun while introducing guests to animals that may include spiders, snakes, insects and other creatures.
“Spiders, snakes and insects often get labeled as scary, especially around Halloween, but these animals are incredibly important and fascinating once you understand them,” said John Moyles, founder and director of J&R. “Our goal is to give people a chance to see these animals up close and replace some of that fear with curiosity.”
J&R educators will explain how the animals are uniquely adapted to survive, why they play important roles in ecosystems and how responsible care helps exotic pets thrive.
Guests will also have opportunities to ask questions and learn the truth behind common myths surrounding reptiles, spiders, insects and other animals that are frequently misunderstood.
“One of the best parts of these programs is watching someone who starts out nervous become completely fascinated by the end,” Moyles said. “Education changes the way people look at animals.”
The program is designed for families, children, classrooms, scouts and anyone interested in animals, science or wildlife education.
Guests are welcome to wear their favorite Halloween costumes and keep the spooky-season spirit going.
