When most people think about back pain, they think about discomfort, stiffness or difficulty getting through everyday activities. But research suggests that some back pain may have a much greater impact than many people realize.

The Twisted Chic Co. was already an established retailer of women’s wear when it moved April 18 into Suites on Main, 132 S. Main St., Shawano.

Owner Bree Hornes had a website, plus space at Boho Belle Boutique before moving to her new location.

“I had a minimal space at Boho Belle,” Hornes said. “I was there from January to April. I grew quite a bit, so I ended up finding my new store.”

Jim Schoenike didn’t think he had much chance to secure a nearly $90,000 federal grant to help his small bow club expand its outdoor range and facilities, but hoped he might get a few thousand.

Using his background in the financial industry, he filled out a detailed application that included estimated costs to expand and enhance the range and submitted it in July 2024.

Jolene “JoJo” Barkhaus opened Jojo’s Diner 17 years ago and sold the business to Gazmend “Gus” and Vlora Fetoja, who took it over in May 2025.

In rural Shawano County, the bees are busy making honey at John and Lorraine Ballbach’s Hobby Honey Farm in Gresham.

However, their farm offers more than raw honey.

In addition to selling local raw and creamed honey, the Ballbachs also sell their own beeswax products which include tea lights, votive cups and candles as well as beeswax bars.
