The Shawano Community Middle School Band traveled down to the state capitol in Madison and filled it with sound during their free performance in the rotunda on March 24.
The Lakes Country Public Library building expansion committee will hold a special kickoff fundraising dinner on May 14 at McCauslin Country Golf Course Clubhouse, 17067 Club House Lane, Lakewood.
The event will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a short program detailing plans for the renovation and expansion.
As the temperature in northeast Wisconsin continues to rise, allergists at Prevea Health are encouraging spring allergy sufferers to come up with a strategy to combat the upcoming season.
From diagnosing preexisting allergies to recommending medications, allergists say now is the time to prepare for the start of the allergy season beginning in April or May.

The Lena Pathfinders have scheduled their 28th annual rummage sale for 8 a.m.-3 p.m. April 3 at the American Legion Hall, 412 E. Main Street, Lena.
This sale provides funds for the Lena Seventh-day Adventist young people to enjoy club activities such as camping trips and purchasing supplies used towards completing over 480 honor badges.
Along with the club activities, the youth are also involved in community service.
Oconto River Trout Unlimited
Without any meetings during COVID, the Oconto River Watershed Chapter of Trout Unlimited scheduled its first meeting of 2022 for 7 p.m. April 12 at the Lone Oak Gun in Gillett. One of the main topics for gathering will be the “Go Fund Trout 2022,” which focuses on raising funds to stock trout in the main Oconto River at public access points from Suring to County BB south of Gillett.
The Shawano County Farm Bureau has announced that Brunch on the Farm will be hosted June 26 by the Viergutz family of Triple D Dairy, LLC.
Triple D Dairy is a 500-cow dairy, located at N12098 County Road D, just north of Clintonville.
The second annual National Poetry Month returns to Shawano County Library in April.
Shawano County Library has several activities planned during the month, including the following:
• Online poetry readings on Mondays and Thursdays on the library’s Facebook page.
• An in-person poetry reading on April 28 at 2 p.m. at the Shawano Public Library, 128 S. Sawyer St., Shawano.
