The 2025-26 smallmouth bass fishing season opened in the northern bass management zone June 21 and runs through March 1, 2026. While anglers in the southern zone have been able to harvest bass since May 3, this harvest season gives anglers a chance to catch and keep smallmouth bass in waters north of state Highway 77 to the east of state Highway 27 and north of state Highway 64. Results spotty from scheduled Dairyland games
It looks like the heat and humidity took its toll on scheduled Dairyland League baseball games June 20 and June 22, as results from only one of seven scheduled games were reported. Seymour driver wins street stocks feature race
After being rained out the previous two weeks, cars were welcomed back to the Shawano Speedway on June 21 for a hot night of racing – that is, action on the track and sweltering, muggy weather. Clintonville’s Lucas Lamberies won the 20-lap feature race for the modifieds after staring in fifth place.
Witt-Birn coach inducted into hall of fame
Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School cross country coach Cathy Esker was inducted into the U.S. College Track & Field/Cross Country Hall of Fame on June 8. Esker, then known as Cathy Branta, competed at UW-Madison in the 1980s. She is a five-time national champion and 11-time All-American.
