Agnes Onesti, 92, Wittenberg, died Monday, July 8, 2013, surrounded by her family at her home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services, Wausau. She was born May 14, 1921, in the town of Rosendale, Fond du Lac County, the daughter of the late Frederick and Clara (Wegner) Pietz. On Dec. 30, 1939, Agnes was united in marriage to William “Bill” Onesti at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood.

Rita M. Fehrman, 82, of Clintonville, formerly of Embarrass, passed away Monday morning, July 8, 2013, at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting her family with the arrangements.

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Lomker
Gerald Lee Lomker, 78, of Mazatlan, Mexico, and formerly of Shawano, passed away on April 5, 2013, at his home in Mazatlan. He was born on June 28, 1934, in Shawano, son of the late Henry and Lucille (Prey) Lomker. After graduating from high school and working in Milwaukee for a few years, Jerry joined the Air Force. Upon his discharge, he lived in Phoenix, Ariz., where he owned and operated the Turkey Track Mine.
Scam concern leads to student selling books
A door-to-door salesman selling children’s books in rural Shawano County has been making residents nervous. However, the salesman says he is just trying to earn some money for college. Shawano School District Superintendent Todd Carlson said he has received multiple calls in the last few days from parents about a man coming to the door and wanting to talk to them and their children about school.
Jerry Eggert to lead Fun Daze parade
The Embarrass Volunteer Fire Department will host the 25th annual Embarrass Fun Daze celebration July 27 at Embarrass Park. “We’ve got a really great line-up of activities planned for this year’s event,” said Darrell Polzin, Embarrass Fire Department chief. “There’s something for everyone at Fun Daze, and we’re hoping everyone will come out and have a great time for a good cause.” Jerry Eggert will be honored as the 2013 parade marshal.

The Menominee American Legion team beat Manawa 11-1 in five innings Tuesday in Manawa. Tom Williams earned the win for Menominee (4-4). Dallas Madosh led at the plate, going two for three. Menominee will face Wittenberg (3-2) Thursday in Keshena.
Hard work focus of new BHS coach
As Duke Copp takes control of the Bonduel High School boys basketball program, his goal is to teach his players about hard work. He knows his new team well, from coaching the eighth-grade boys team and teaching at BHS the last three years. “There’s a lot of potential there,” Copp said. “To be one of the best programs, we have to work harder than everyone else. That’s the message I’m trying to get across to the kids.

Will Kuchelmeister earned the win, pitching seven innings, striking out seven, walking one and giving up three runs on nine hits.
Ritchie cannot be slowed in Late Model win
Lapped traffic and a hard-charging Craig Bartz couldn’t stop Justin Ritchie from taking the Late Model feature win at Shawano Speedway on Saturday night. Also, Jesse Peebles won his first-ever IMCA Modified feature, while Brandon Czarapata returned to victory lane in the IMCA Stock Car division.
