Shawano sheriff endorses Tiffany for governor

Shawano County Sheriff George Lenzner was among 10 Wisconsin sheriffs who endorsed U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany for Wisconsin’s next governor.

“I have said from the start that restoring safe streets for every Wisconsinite is a pillar of my campaign, and it is an honor to earn the endorsement of these 10 sheriffs,” Tiffany said.

• Kellie J. Bohm, 41, Gresham, pleaded no contest Nov. 17 to possession of THC (second or subsequent offense), seven counts of felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor charges of two counts of battery and three counts of disorderly conduct. Judge Katherine Sloma withheld sentencing and placed her on three years of probation with conditions.

• Raymond Lawrence Pamanet, 22, Keshena, pleaded no contest Nov. 18 to fleeing an officer in his vehicle. Judge Michael Judge levied court costs, sentenced him to six months in county jail and ruled that he may petition the court to expunge the matter from his record if he has no further criminal charges for two years.

Oconto County balsam firs to be featured in Madison

He didn’t know it at the time, but a roofing project 40 years ago pointed Dave Vander Velden in a totally different direction.

That direction — owning and operating Christmas tree farms in Door and Oconto counties — has paid off over the years, and the fruits of his labor will soon be on display in Madison.

Property tax rate for city increases for 2026

The Shawano Common Council approved its 2026 budget Nov. 18, which comes with an increase in the property tax rate and the likelihood of a property revaluation next year.
