Shawano-Menominee Court News

• Deon L. Duke, 48, Cecil, had his probation revoked March 13 from a 2024 felony conviction for criminal damage to property. Judge Katherine Sloma sentenced him June 8 to one year in county jail.

• Joshua J. Bessert, 51, Eland, pleaded no contest June 8 to failure to report to county jail. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and court costs and sentenced him to six months in county jail.

• Jonathan C. Dismuke, 18, Little Chute, was charged June 8 with fleeing an officer in his vehicle and three counts of felony bail jumping. Judge Jay Conley set a $7,500 cash bond and adjourned his initial appearance until June 18.

Keek-Oche Tribal Farm grows and feeds Stockbridge-Munsee

Keek-Oche Tribal Farm held a soft opening June 11 of its new farm building, dedicated a tree to a tribal council member for the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans and showed tribal members they’ve come a long way to help achieve food sovereignty.

SAWM: Summer kicks off with first golf outing fundraiser

Shawano Lake and its connecting waterways are so important to the local economy, residents and other users that when Shawano Area Waterways Management holds its annual golf outing, you can be sure the fundraiser will be well-attended.

Beautiful weather doesn’t hurt, either.

The 2026 golf outing was held at Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil on June 9.
