Wittenberg-Birnamwood 8, Northland Pines 4

Trailing 5-1, the Eagles battled back with three runs in the fifth inning to bring them within a run of a tie game. The Chargers, however, sealed the win with three runs of their own in the sixth inning and then closed the door in the top of the seventh to win the nonconference game.

The Chargers used four pitchers, giving up a combined four runs on four hits while striking out 11 and walking 10.

Fox Valley Lutheran 9, Shawano 1

The Hawks lost their Bay Conference opener to Fox Valley Lutheran 9-1 in Appleton.

Shawano got off to a rough start, giving up seven runs in the first inning. It was too big of a hole to crawl out of for the Hawks.

Shawano got its only run in the top of the third inning when Ayden Bystol scored on a wild throw past the third baseman.

Bystol led the Hawks at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
