Toys for Tots seeking volunteers, donations

The United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program of Eastern and Central Shawano County has announced the 2021 campaign is underway. The Toys for Tots program for Eastern and Central Shawano County provides new, unwrapped toys for less fortunate children at Christmas. By providing a brand-new gift, something many children take for granted, people can help less fortunate children believe that someone cares and that the magic of the holiday season hasn’t passed them by. This year, the local program will have an online application process available for individuals. In 2020, due to the generosity of Shawano County residents, businesses and volunteers, the Toys for Tots program provided new toys to more than 1,122 less fortunate children in Shawano County. By using the website http://shawano-wi.toysfortots.org, residents can request a toy or sign up to volunteer, and businesses can request a drop box for toy donations. The registration period will be through Dec. 1. Applicants will receive up-to-date emails with information on their application. The distribution of the toys for single families will be held at a location in Shawano in December 2021; individuals will be notified of the location by email. People requesting toys must be the legal guardian of the child. The parent or guardian and child must be a current eastern or central Shawano County resident. Children must be between 0 to 15 years of age. Toys for Tots is looking for volunteers throughout the county to assist with work in its warehouse. Volunteers assist in sorting and on distribution days in December. Shawano Area Young Professionals will once again be placing more than 90 collection boxes throughout the Shawano area. They will also be accepting toy donations during the Nov. 27 Holiday Stroll at Franklin Park in Shawano. Toys can also be dropped off at the State Farm office at 207 S. Main St. until Dec. 8. Updates on the campaign will be posted on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ShawanoAreaToysforTots.
