Shawano/Bonduel hockey team loses opener

The Shawano/Bonduel boys hockey team opened its 2025-26 season by welcoming Lakeland to the Crawford Center in Shawano on Nov. 21, and the Thunderbirds repaid the Hawks with a 6-1 win.

Lakeland took a quick 2-0 lead in the first period. Shawano/Bonduel’s only goal came at 5:22 in the second period on a goal by Cameron Schroeder and an assist by Josh Fisken.

Leading 2-1 at that point, the Thunderbirds added two more second-period goals within 26 seconds of each other, to take a 4-1 lead.

Lakeland added another pair of goals in the final period.

There were no penalties in the game.

Kaiden Thornborrow worked the goal for Shawano/Bonduel, allowing six goals on six shots.

Cam Bernard allowed the one Hawks goal on one shot throughout the game.
