The Bay Area Ice Bears girls hockey team went 3-0 in Baldwin over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The co-op team includes girls from Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere, Notre Dame, Green Bay Preble, Pulaski and West De Pere.
On Nov. 28, the Ice Bears opened play with an 8-2 win over the Western Wisconsin Stars.
At one point in the first period, the team were tied 2-2, but the Ice Bears scored once more to take 3-2 lead before blowing the game open with five goals in the second period.
Neither team scored in the third period.
Aisling Buchan scored at 1:03 in the first period with assists from Mya Sheppard and Elliana Memken. Hannah Von Haden made it 2-0 at 8:23 with help from Addison Dahl.
Faye Brunke scored the go-ahead goal at 16:37 with Dahl assisting.
Second-period goals came from Ava McDonald (Brunke assisting), Lily Lyons (Bailey Hronek and Madeline Engles assisting), Von Haden (Brunke and Lyons), Jordyn Clarke (Piper Losey and Eva Streckenbach) and Buchan (McDonald and Elizabeth Zunker).
Reese Spiering had 13 saves for the Ice Bears. For the Stars, Sierra Andert gave up five goals and had 14 saves, while Stella Olson allowed three goals and had 10 saves.
Each team was penalized three times for six minutes.
In the second game of the day, Bay Area shut out Black River Falls 2-0.
Engles scored at 1:29 in the first period with an assist from Hronek. Sheppard scored at 7:14 in the third period, with assists from McDonald and Hronek.
The Ice Bears had 26 shots on goal, compared to 24 for Black River Falls.
Bay Area was penalized twice for four minutes, and Black River Falls was called for three infractions for six minutes.
Spiering made 24 saves for the Ice Bears. Alexa Moore also had 24 saves but allowed two goals for Black River Falls.
The Ice Bears ended the tournament play Nov. 29 with a 5-1 win over St. Croix Valley Fusion.
Zunker and Memken assisted Dahl on the first goal of the game at 1:25 in the first period. Von Haden and Brunke followed with goals of their own at 2:15 and 7:06, respectively.
St. Croix Valley scored at 16:56 as the period ended with Bay Area leading 3-1.
No scoring occurred in the second period, but Bay Area added two more goals in the final period.
Abby Mommaerts scored at 11:13 with help from Memken and Dahl. Then, Buchan scored at 11:53 with Losey and Gabrielle Watts assisting.
The Fusion outshot the Ice Bears 32-30.
Spiering again worked the net for the Ice Bears, earning 31 saves. Katelyn Gustafson had 25 saves for the Fusion.
Bay Area was penalized eight times for 16 minutes, while St. Croix Valley was penalized six times for 12 minutes.
