With a large crowd on hand for Alumni Night, the Shawano/Bonduel boys hockey team treated everyone to a 7-2 win over Rhinelander on Nov. 25 at the Crawford Center.
Bonduel senior Gavin Hundt scored three goals and assisted on two others.
The Hawks led 3-0 after one period and 5-1 after two periods. They outshot the Hodags 25-15 in the contest.
Hundt started the scoring barrage just 1:23 into the game on a goal with assists from Landon Vickery and Blake Swedberg. He followed that up at 6:11 with an unassisted goal. The Hawks’ final goal of the first period was courtesy of Vickery with assists from Hundt and Swedberg at 14:37.
Rhinelander got on the board at 10:33 in the second period, only to have the goal matched at 11:36 on a score from Swedberg and assists by Hundt and Vickery. Hundt notched his third goal of the game at 14:53; Cameron Schroeder had the assist.
In the third period, Shawano/Bonduel stretched its lead to 7-1. Michael Dillenberg had an unassisted goal at 7:55. At 12:38, Kielian Armbruster scored with help from Schroeder.
The Hodags’ final goal came at 14:43.
Rhinelander was called for three penalties for 14 minutes, while Shawano/Bonduel had one infraction for two minutes.
Tyson Lyons worked the net for the Hawks, registering 13 saves, while Connor McGee had 18 saves for Rhinelander.
