Wittenberg-Birnamwood swimmers captured four gold medals, five silver medals and three bronze medals at the Bay Conference meet Oct. 30 in Clintonville. The Chargers placed fourth among seven teams.
Shawano placed fifth, with swimmers earning a pair of bronze awards.
Kelsie Davis, of the Chargers, was also named swimmer of the year.
For the Chargers, each swimmer placed third or better in all of their events.
First team all-conference honors were earned by Brooklyn Beran, Reese Dickman, Davis and Eleanor Tassler, who won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:55.52, and the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.09.
Davis also won first team honors in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:16.00 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.89.
Dickman was named to the second team in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.60 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.68.
Beran was named to the second team after a time of 1:05.35 in the 100-yard backstroke and honorable mention status with a time of 2:24.44 in the 200-yard IM.
Tassler earned second team all-conference honors with a time of 5:47.07 in the 50-yard freestyle and an honorable mention award in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.64.
Rylee Crick was named to the second team with a time of 1:08.80 in the 100-yard butterfly and honorable mention in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.14.
Shawano’s Jai Bisterfeldt earned honorable mention status in the 50-yard freestyle, as did the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kenley Kelliher, Molly Hanson, Bisterfeldt and Tela Hopfensperger.
Sectionals are scheduled for Nov. 8 in Rice Lake.
