Oconto Falls’ football team opened Northwoods Conference play Sept. 5 with a 20-16 home win over Crivitz.
Meanwhile, Bonduel and Lena/STAA also picked up wins over Southern Door and Green Bay NEW Lutheran, respectively.
Oconto Falls 20, Crivitz 16
The Panthers led 14-0 at halftime after finding the end zone in the first two quarters.
Isaiah Radart opened the scoring with a 4-yard run in the first quarter, and Nathaniel White connected with Alec Krejcarek for a 67-yard pass in the second quarter.
The Wolverines cut the lead in half in the third quarter on Brody MacNeil’s 4-yard run, but the Panthers responded with a 4-yard run of their own in the fourth quarter to go up 20-7.
Crivitz cut into the Panthers’ lead later in the quarter on Colten Tarmann’s 16-yard pass to MacNeil. Crivitz also added a late safety after sacking White in the end zone.
White completed 10 of 15 passes for 200 yards, while Ethan Hill led the Panthers with 33 rushing yards.
Bonduel 19, Southern Door 0
The Bears opened Packerland Conference play by shutting out the Eagles in Bonduel.
Bonduel opened the scoring late in the first half on Quinn Weyenberg’s touchdown pass to Beckett Hartlaben.
Southern Door had an opportunity to tie the game or take the lead on its first possession of the second half but turned the ball over on downs at Bonduel’s 10-yard line.
Carter Moesch found the end zone with a rushing touchdown on back-to-back drives for Bonduel to complete the scoring.
Lena/STAA 47, Green Bay NEW Lutheran 0
Shutouts are starting to add up for Lena/STAA, as the Titans held their third opponent scoreless and improved to 3-0 on the season.
Lena/STAA headed to Green Bay NEW Lutheran and returned home with a win over the Blazers.
The Titans have now outscored their opponents 124-0.
Sevastopol 50, Suring 22
Three Sevastopol players ran for more than 100 yards each as the Pioneers handed the Eagles their first loss in a matchup of Across the Bay Conference 8-player teams in Suring.
Bo Tanck, Logan Schuh and Ray Johnson ran for 145, 132 and 120 yards, respectively. Schuh finished with three rushing touchdowns and also had a scoring pass.
Sevastopol will now head to Lena to face Lena/STAA at 7 p.m. Sept. 12. Both teams are 3-0 and are tied for first place in the conference standings.
