Shary L. Johnson

Shary L. Johnson, age 71 of Suring, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Shary was born on Oct. 7, 1951, to the late Lee and Ruth (Jansen) Schuettpelz. She attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Suring High School. After graduation, Shary attended cosmetology school and became a beautician. For over 20 years, Shary worked at The Cutting Edge in Gillett. Shary married Robert Johnson on Feb. 10, 1999, in Las Vegas. After their marriage, the couple traveled extensively across the U.S. visiting their family. Shary was a loving, devoted wife that always stood her ground. From her second and third marriages, Shary had stepchildren that were very important to her and special in her life. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church-Hayes and avidly supported the school. While Bob helped to start the St. John Lutheran Church and School Greenhouse, Shary was the “green thumb” behind the operation. Shary loved nature and the outdoors. She lovingly cared for her flowers and spent endless hours in her garden. Shary cared for two outdoor “pets:” Miss Daisy the deer and KC the cat. She loved traveling, going on adventures and taking Sunday road trips. Shary also enjoyed shopping, especially at thrift stores, and going out to eat. Her love of the color purple was shown by all that she bought and gifted to others. She cherished time spent with family and enjoyed being around the grandchildren. Shary is survived by her husband, Bob; beloved stepchildren, Brian (Angie) Johnson, Brenda (Jesse) Carpenter, Megan Gilligan, Josh (Tiffany Robinson) Gilligan, Dustin Johnson, Rob (Justine) Johnson and Jill (Dave) Miller; numerous grandchildren; siblings, Larae (Ken) Hischke, Larry (Diane) Schuettpelz and Stuart (Brenda) Schuettpelz; extended family members, Colten Jenson and Ashlyn Brindley. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ruth Schuettpelz; first and second husbands, Danny Schenkoske and Jerry Johnson; brother, Ralph Wayne Schuettpelz; step-grandson, Aaron Johnson; beloved dog, Midnight. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church-Hayes from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at noon with Pastor Nick Buchholz officiating.
