Bay Area 9, Fox Cities 1
The Ice Bears cruised into the WIAA sectional finals with a 9-1 semifinal win over the Fox Cities Stars.
Bay Area will host Lakeshore Lightning at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 27 for the sectional final and the right to advance to the state tournament.
Bay Area dominated the Stars with 42 shots on goal compared to just eight for Fox Cities. The Ice Bears were never penalized in the game, while Fox Cities had two infractions for four minutes.
Pulaski’s Faye Brunke scored a hat trick for Bay Area. She also had three assists.
Bay Area took a 4-0 lead in the first period.
Brunke started the scoring at 7:35 with an assist from Lily Lyons. Madeline Engles scored at 9:11 with Jordyn Clark and Mya Sheppard assisting. Sheppard had three total assists in the game.
Brunke’s second goal came at 14:17 with Aisling Buchan assisting, and Lyons scored at 16:40 with Brunke and Buchan assisting.
In the second period, Addison Dahl scored to put Bay Area up 5-0. Elliana Memken assisted. Fox Cities scored toward the end of the period for their only goal.
Bay Area scored four more times in the final period. Brunke’s hat trick was scored at 5:11 with help from Lyons and Sheppard.
Buchan scored at 6:39 with Brunke and Sheppard assisting. Lyons scored at 14:17 with an assist from Brunke. Finally, Hannah Von Haden scored at 15:56 with help from Ava McDonald.
Bay Area goalie Reese Spiering had seven saves. Fox Cities goalie Teagan Wilkins had 33 saves.
