Gail G. Davis, 74, of Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Gail was born on Aug. 2, 1948, to the late Lyle and Violette (Farrar) Davis. He was raised in the Pine Stump Section of the Town of Riverview. Gail attended Mountain Grade School and Suring High School before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served as infantry for two tours during the Vietnam War.
On March 4, 1978, Gail married Janet Herrbold in Green Bay. Together, they moved back to Pine Stump and built a home. He worked for various companies as a truck driver. Gail greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He was a member and bugler for VFW Post 2119 in Mountain.
Gail is survived by his sisters, Rita Lance, Aurelia “Nett” (Paul) Janssen, and Marsha Smith; and brother, Mitchell Davis. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; brothers, Verne and Joel; brother-in-law, Hollis Lance; nephews, Anthony Davis and Danny Davis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Scott VanLaanen officiating. Gail will be interred at Mountain Cemetery with military honors.
