Gas station employee shot in Shawano

A clerk at People’s Express, 716 S. Main St., Shawano, was shot by an armed robber the night of Sept. 2. The clerk was treated at the local hospital. The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been made at this time. (Contributed)

A gas station employee was shot Sept. 2 in an attempted armed robbery in Shawano.

The Shawano Police Department was dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to People’s Express, 716 S. Main St., Shawano, for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, city police officers and Shawano County sheriff’s deputies determined that the incident was an attempted armed robbery. The employee sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The lone suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Shawano Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the clerk to a hospital for treatment.

The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been made at this time.
