Pulaski’s football team got back on the winning track Sept. 11 with a 46-27 Fox River Classic Conference-North win over Green Bay Preble.
Meanwhile, two other area teams improved to 4-0 on the season, as Bonduel handed Marinette a 35-0 loss and Wausaukee forfeited its 8-player game to Suring.
Pulaski 46, Green Bay Preble 27
Anthony Ficarri and Bohdan Schmidt combined for 311 of the Red Raiders’ 350 rushing yards in a win over the Hornets at Saputo Stadium.
Ficarri led the way with 192 yards on 20 carries and four touchdowns, while Schmidt added 119 yards on five carries to go along with 90 passing yards, including an 83-yard touchdown pass to Andre Burnett.
Schmidt opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 19-yard run on fourth down, but Preble took a 7-6 lead on a 17-yard run from Prince Gage and a successful extra point.
The lead didn’t last long, however, as Ficarri found the end zone for the first time with a 3-yard run.
Schmidt and Ficarri added runs of 12 and 16 yards, respectively, in the second quarter to help Pulaski take a 25-14 halftime lead.
Kaden Morales also found the end zone for Preble in the second quarter with a 1-yard run.
Ficarri scored from a yard out in the third quarter before Schmidt’s 83-yard pass to Burnett.
Ficarri’s fourth touchdown from 3 yards out came in the fourth quarter before Preble cut into the lead late in the game with Harrison Selk’s scoring passes of 74 and 10 yards to Elliot Komp.
Pulaski improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Bonduel 35, Marinette 0
Malachi Gray led the Bears with three touchdowns in a win over the Marines in Marinette as Bonduel improved to 2-0 in the Packerland Conference and 4-0 overall.
Two of Gray’s touchdowns came on the ground and the other on a pass from Quinn Wesenberg, who completed nine of 12 passes for 121 yards and two scores.
Gray also added 93 rushing yards as the Bears outgained the Marines 333-154.
Wesenberg hooked up with Gray for a 13-yard pass for the only score of the first quarter.
Gray added a 43-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and Carter Moesch returned an interception 51 yards for another score as the Bears built a 21-0 halftime lead.
Wesenberg’s 34-yard pass to Owen Burrack made it 28-0 in the third quarter and Gray capped the scoring with a 10-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Moesch added 65 rushing yards and also caught three passes for 53 yards.
Suring 2, Wausaukee 0
Wausaukee forfeited its M&O-8 Conference game to the Eagles as Suring improved to 4-0 overall.
Lena/STAA 45, Gibraltar 8
The Titans led 24-0 at halftime and went on to hand the Vikings a loss in Lena in an 8-player matchup of M&O-8 Conference teams.
Luke Koslowsky recovered a fumble and scored to end Gibraltar’s opening drive.
Lucas Farley added a pair of touchdown passes, including one to Jake Farley, and Jake Farley returned a punt for another touchdown in the first half.
Lucas Farley’s touchdown pass to PJ Farley in the third quarter and a successful two-point conversion made it 32-0 early in the third quarter.
Gibraltar avoided a shutout with Hobbs Emerson’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Bultman to make it 32-8, but the Titans answered with rushing touchdowns from Lucas Farley and Carson Joyce.
Lena/STAA improved to 3-1 on the season.
Stratford 43, Wittenberg-Birnamwood 6
The Chargers headed to Stratford to face one of the favorites to win a Central Wisconsin Conference-Large championship and fell to 0-2 in CWC-Large play and 1-3 overall.
Stratford built an 18-0 lead midway through the second quarter on runs of 1 and 75 yards from Aaron Knetter and Kolton Haupt’s 41-yard pass to Matthew Schoenfuss.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s score came on a fourth-down play in the final minute of the first half on Bo Davis’ 20-yard touchdown pass to Logan Gibson.
However, the Tigers responded on the final drive of the half on Declan Fisher’s 27-yard field goal with no time remaining, and Stratford led 21-6 at the break.
Haupt’s 11-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the second half gave Stratford a 28-6 lead and the Tigers added fourth-quarter touchdowns on Haupt’s 9-yard pass to Schoenfull and Adolpho Cano-Aguilera’s 11-yard run.
Kewaunee 35, Oconto Falls 7
Kewaunee, coming off of a 28-22 loss to Bonduel in its Packerland opener, had no problems with the Panthers, holding them scoreless until the final two minutes in Kewaunee.
Blake Temme opened the scoring for the Storm in the first quarter with a 3-yard run and Kewaunee added three more touchdowns in the second quarter on Dane Harrell’s 3-yard run and Diesel Bosdeck’s 17-yard pass to Harrell and 2-yarder to Mason Kovacs.
Kewaunee’s final touchdown came in the third quarter on a blocked punt, with Baylor Elliot returning the ball for the score.
Landon Thompson scored Oconto Falls’ touchdown with 1:50 remaining in the game on a 2-yard run.
Both teams are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Niagara 38, Marion/Tigerton 6
Niagara scored touchdowns in all four quarters in a nonconference win over the Thundercatz in Marion.
Marion/Tigerton scored its touchdown in the first quarter and trailed 8-6 heading into the second quarter, but the Badgers finished the game with 30 unanswered points.
Owen Dunkes led the Badgers with 105 rushing yards, 78 receiving yards on three receptions and a pair of touchdowns.
The Thundercatz honored all current and former military members, first responders, EMS, firefighters and police officers from Marion, Tigerton and Niagara.
