The Wittenberg Area Historical Society has received a $5,000 donation from the Wisconsin Deerhunters, Inc. Witt-Birn Chapter to help support the renovation of the society’s newly acquired Heritage Center.
The donation will be used toward the ongoing renovation and improvements needed to transform the building into a space dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the Wittenberg area and its surrounding communities.
The historical society is undertaking an ambitious capital campaign with a goal of raising $300,000 to fully complete the Heritage Center project. Once renovated, the facility will provide additional space for historical exhibits, artifacts, photographs, educational opportunities and community events, while creating a place where generations can come together to learn about the area’s rich heritage.
“This donation goes a long way toward completing our mission of preserving Wittenberg area communities’ stories, celebrating our heritage, connecting generations and inspiring the future,” said John Powers, historical society vice president.
The Heritage Center project represents more than simply renovating a building. It is an investment in preserving the stories, people, businesses, organizations and events that have shaped the Wittenberg area. The historical society’s vision is to create an inclusive space that recognizes the history of the broader area and ensures those stories remain available for future generations.
