Bonduel girls win regional track and field title

Division 3, Suring Bonduel’s girls won the regional competition with 153 points, followed by host Suring in second with 89. Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy placed sixth with 57 lints, Gillett was seventh with 50, Gresham/Bowler was 10th with 18; and Wolf River Lutheran in Shawano was 12th with seven. For the boys, Bonduel was third with 75, Lena/STAA was fourth with 70, Suring was seventh with 54, Gillett was 11th with 20, Gresham/Bowler was 12th with nine and Wolf River Lutheran was 13th with seven. The first four finishers in each event qualify for sectional competition. Winning gold for the girls were Bonduel’s Peyton Westrich in the 200- and 400-meter dashes; Mariah Wondra in the 3,200-meter run; the 4x200 team of Paige Niquette, Audrey Weier, Audrey Jacobs and Josie Pawlak; the 4x400 team of Wondra, Teagan Engel, Westrich and Amelia Wilcox; Weier in the high jump; and Pawlak in the long jump and triple jump. Gillett’s Audrey Pate won the discus. Capturing gold for the Bonduel’s boys were the 4x200 team of Malachi Gray, Sam Roberts, Griffin Uelmen and Mason Ballwahn; and the 4x400 team of Roberts, Gage Scholl, Uelmen and Ballwahn. Roberts also won the triple jump. Lena/STAA’s Zander Thomson won the high jump. Shot put: Ryan Westrich, B, second. Discus: Westrich, B, third. Division 3, Stratford Marion/Tigerton’s girls collected 41 points and placed ninth out of 12 teams. The boys collected 16 points and placed 11th. Madiline Wudstruck won the gold in the girls 100-meter hurdles, and Presley Stewart-Rolfs placed second in the shot put. For the boys, Tristan Herro had the top spot in the high jump.
