As the Oconto Falls community looks forward to a new school year at Oconto Falls Middle School, residents are also taking a moment to reflect on the legacy of Washington Middle School.
With asbestos abatement complete, demolition and salvage work will officially begin Sept. 15. The process is expected to last about two months.
Contractors will be on site daily from about 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contractor will use water and other standard construction practices to minimize dust.
A temporary security fence will remain around the site, with gates locked at the end of each workday.
Dump trucks will be entering and leaving the site throughout the day. Residents are urged to use caution when traveling in the area.
For decades, WMS served students, families and staff, shaping countless memories and experiences. This summer’s online auction gave community members, staff and families the chance to own a piece of that history while supporting the transition.
