The mixture of stars and snowflakes are hung and flashing on my front porch. All of the halls are not as yet decorated, not a thing is inside, however, the outside was festooned to the best of my ability, and with a little help from my family, everything was plugged in.
Of course, I plugged it all into three different timers. The front porch flashers, the nativity scene by the birch tree and two deer got plugged into the front porch timer.
The wire tree that goes into the gazebo and some lighted candy canes got plugged into the timer on the east side of the house.
The single strand of lights that goes along the back deck gets plugged into the timer in the back of the house.
Most of the decorations were put out Saturday by me, but this year I didn’t bring the extension cords and hook things together. I hung up Christmas wreaths and put up every other Christmas decoration that was in the garage.
I like to put artificial poinsettias into the flower pots out front of the house, but, of course, the soil had frozen. I still put some out by using a hammer and screwdriver to make some holes to stick them in.
Of course, all of the fall decorations had to be brought back inside and put away in the garage.
After working at doing those things for two hours late in the morning, I decided I needed a break and some lunch. After lunch was over, I decided to sit down and watch the rest of the Christmas movie that was on television. Needless to say, I never did get up and go back outside.
Rather I waited till family came over on Sunday, and we put out the two deer and the tree in the gazebo. Of course, they weren’t tested before they were put into place.
When darkness hit, and the timers got triggered, the proof of the lighting was revealed. The deer looked fine, the stars and snowflakes were flashing, and the nativity lit up as expected.
The single strand in the back was lit and looking lonely. I keep saying I am not going to purchase any more outdoor decorations, and yet when things quit working, I feel like I should replace them. I used to have the candy canes back there, but now I put them on the east side.
It didn’t matter where I put those canes; this year they are not going to work. Neither does most of the tree in the gazebo. The deer are also being difficult, as the doe’s head does not light up, and one of the buck’s back legs doesn’t either. However, his head with antlers is still turning to and fro as it should.
Some kind of fever took over my brain the other day and I even started making out my Christmas cards. I have several that need letters included, so they haven’t been mailed as yet.
Added to this confusion is the fact that the weather is making huge swings of rain, snow, fog and strangeness. However, this month will go by fast, and so far shopping is not high on my to do list.
