A Tigerton woman died Thursday of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on state Highway 29 in the town of Morris, authorities said.
Mary K. Sawicki, 60, was airlifted after the accident to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The accident took place at Highway 29 and County Road J shortly before 2:30 p.m.
An initial investigation determined Sawicki was traveling north on County Road J and attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 29 when she pulled in front of an eastbound vehicle driven by Lori L. Bessette, 42, of Tigerton, and was struck.
Bessette was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. The extent of her injuries were unknown.
Authorities said both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The crash remains under investigation.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the State Patrol, Tigerton Ambulance and Fire Department and Wittenberg Ambulance.
