Sharon L. Notz (McDermid), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away at home with family by her side, on Nov. 14, 2025, at the age of 79.
She was born Oct. 16, 1946, in Oconto Falls, to Arlene (Scholtz) and Alton McDermid.
Sharon graduated from Valders High School in 1965. In July 1969 she married Roy Notz. The couple eventually settled in the Gillett/Morgan area. They were blessed with one daughter, Tara, born in March 1973.
Drawn to caring for others, Sharon earned her licensed practical nursing degree from NWTI in 1984 and devoted over 30 years to Community Memorial Hospital. She loved every minute of her nursing career, especially her time in the nursery where her gentle presence brought comfort to new families. Sharon was a caregiver at heart.
Over the years, she lovingly cared for numerous family members, including her grandparents, affectionately known as Ma and Pa. After retiring, she delighted in being outdoors, tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling to Arizona with her sister, Jenny, to visit family.
Throughout the years, took immense joy in following her grandchildren’s sporting events. She rarely missed a game and always cheered them on with pride.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Tara (Russ) Long; grandchildren, Clint (Courtney) Long, Cole (Megan LeFleur) Long and Camryn (Bennett Radke) Long; Dayomi P; great-granddaughter, Conley; sisters, Karen Hayes, Jennifer (Vern) Rehlinger and Jill (Danny) Eisenhower; brother, Hugh (Shelly).
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; brothers, Bruce and Earl McDermid; sister, Jackie McDermid; brother-in-law, Steve Hayes; several nephews, including special nephew, Christopher Rehlinger.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Jennifer Gibbons, NP, and the staff at Unity Hospice (Cheryl, Leah, Tammy, Lucy and Nicole) for their excellent care.
A special thank you to Sharon’s goddaughter, Val, for the care she provided and to her dear friend Patti Jo, for always taking the time to stop over for a visit.
