Second-round applications open for PSAP grants

The Wisconsin Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) has announced that a second-round application period has opened for local public safety answering points (PSAP) to apply for a minimum of $624,000 in remaining funding from the $2.9 million grant awarded to Wisconsin by the U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Commerce. In June, OEC announced the award of $2.1 million of those federal funds to 24 local PSAP grant projects under a first round of applications. OEC, part of the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, provides program management for the implementation of the statewide emergency services IP-based network (ESInet) and applied for the federal grant earlier this year. Applications for this second grant opportunity are due by Nov. 30. Primary PSAP who responded to the statewide 911 survey assessment are eligible to apply for allowable expenses related to end-of-life customer premises equipment replacement, logging records, and mobile answering positions.
