Rosemary ‘Rosie’ Young

Rosemary “Rosie” Young, 82, Shawano, died Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, at home. She was born May 13, 1943, in Oconto Falls to Ervin and Stella (Smits) Heaney. Rosemary attended Degantown Grade School and graduated Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1961. Following graduation, she worked at the shoe factory in Pulaski. In April of 1964, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Upon her honorable discharge from the military, she worked at a bank in Texas before moving back to Wisconsin in 1972. On May 31, 1975, she married Norbert “Nubby” Young in Oconto. Rosemary was employed at the former Gillett and Valley Banks as well as Jim Kane Chevrolet in Oconto Falls before retiring in 2005 from M&I Bank. She was a member of the Oconto County DAV Chapter #45 and moved to Shawano in 2017 where she volunteered at the local food pantry. Survivors are her one daughter, Lori (Steve) Carlson, Shawano; two special grandchildren, Marcus (Farin) Carlson and Meredith (Jacob) Gill; three great-grandchildren, Elsey and Sylvie Carlson, Cameron Gill; one sister, Karen Deshler, Green Bay; special cousin, Ellen Heaney, Mount Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nubby, in 2017; and two brothers, Peter and William “Bill” Heaney. Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of services. Funeral services will be held noon at the funeral home with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett. Rosie was a proud Vietnam veteran to the very end.
