Roger D. Erdmann

Roger D. Erdmann, 73, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Appleton. Born on July 21, 1940, in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Evelyn (Mueller) Erdmann. On May 11, 1974, in Berlin, Roger was united in marriage to Dorothy Rutkauskas. Roger had a passion for nature and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, back-packing, hunting and boating. His love of boating most likely peaked in his younger years while racing hydro-plane boats from coast to coast. His thrill-seeking may also have been fulfilled during his rodeo days, roping cattle while on the quarter horses he adored. Above all, Roger thought the world of his family and showed them his love by teaching his children to water ski and sharing his fondness of nature. Roger is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Shawano; his three children, Shelly (Chad) Bildings, of De Pere, Amy Erdmann, of Oshkosh, and William Erdmann, of Oshkosh; a grandson, Brandon; and a brother, Lee (Bobbi) Erdmann, of Berlin. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano with the Rev. Susan Phillips officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
