Richard C. Popp Sr.

Richard C. Popp Sr., 71, of Clintonville, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at the Pine Manor Health Care Center, Embarrass. “Dick” was born on April 1, 1942, in Green Bay, the son of the late Leonard and Lucille (Eckert) Popp. The family lived in the Bonduel area, and Dick graduated from Bonduel High School. Dick had served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1967. On July 24, 1971, he was united in marriage to JoAnne Womack. The couple first lived in Elkhorn, moved to Embarrass in 1981 and then in 2008 moved to Clintonville. Dick was a longtime, independent over-the-road truck driver until 2007, when he retired because of his health. His hobbies included playing golf, hunting, fishing and playing card games, especially with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1502 of Clintonville and American Legion Post 63 of Clintonville. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, JoAnne; his sons, David (Marge) Bickford, Clintonville, Richard (Jennifer) Popp II, Clintonville; his special daughter, Jeanie Romack, Clintonville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his brother, James Popp, Shawano; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janet Swearingern. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 63 and VFW Post 664 of Clintonville at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
