Former Shawano County dispatcher Deanna Prey was recognized for her service to the county at the Aug. 27 meeting of the county board.
A resolution, approved Aug. 6 by the Shawano Public Safety Committee, thanked Prey for her 26 years of employment with the county.
“She was a huge asset to Shawano County,” Sheriff George Lenzner told supervisors. “A lot of the newer dispatchers really looked up to her.”
Lenzner said Prey retired a few months ago but returned to work part time. Now, she has fully retired.
“It’s sad to see people with that tenure retire,” said Supervisor Tess Serrano, addressing the public safety committee.
During the course of Prey’s career, she navigated many changes to the dispatch center, including two major remodels; a new computer aided dispatch program; a multitude of updates and changes to CAD; and the implementation of new phone systems, new radio systems, new technology and several other database applications.
