Chargers beat Gillett
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys basketball team beat Gillett 37-23 in a nonconference game Thursday in Wittenberg.
Nick Kapitz led the Chargers (1-1) with nine points, two rebounds and five assists. He also had four steals. Aaron Monnot had seven points while Sam Szews added six points.
Leading Gillett (0-2) was Dylan Roberts with 10 points.
Wildcats beat Hilbert
Getting 33 points from Christian Haffner, the Gresham Community High School boys basketball team beat Hilbert 67-57 in a nonconference game Thursday in Gresham.
Scott Cerveny added 22 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats (1-0).
Jordan Jones led Hilbert (0-1) with 18 points. Mitch Gruett added 12.
In junior varsity action, Gresham beat Hilbert 43-42.
