Chester “Chet” E. Prellwitz, 72, of Embarrass, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the Shawano Medical Center.
Chet was born on Sept. 22, 1941, in the Township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, the son of the late Willis and Myrtle (Retzlaff) Prellwitz. He later attended Clintonville Public School and worked as a milk hauler early in his career. On Aug. 10, 1963, Chet married Carol Kuhnke at Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, where they were still members at the time of his death. The couple first lived in Clintonville, then moved to the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, where they dairy farmed. In 1989, they moved to Embarrass, where they lived since. Chet also worked as a master carpenter. He was a meticulous independent carpenter whose motto was “no cobb job.” He also worked with Torborg’s Clintonville Lumber and Koeller Builders. Chet’s hobbies included playing softball, BABA baseball, hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. He was inducted into the Clintonville Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He also had numerous golfing achievements being a member of the Clintonville Riverside Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol; daughters, Christine (Tim) Anderson, Clintonville, Connie (Rick) Freeman, Kenosha, Carrie (Bill) Gretzinger, Grand Chute, Cindy (Shawn) Buelow, Neenah, and Candi Huber (Rod Huber), Clintonville; son, Curt Prellwitz, Marion; grandchildren, Amber Anderson (special friend Eric Kind), Nathen Freeman (fiancee Taylor Halvey), April Anderson (special friend Matt Hidde), Angela Anderson, Lucas Gretzinger (special friend Brianna Zonick), Carissa Woyak Buelow (special friend Ty Griffin), Nicholas Freeman, Amber Lynn Buelow (fiancee Vince Pelky), Logan Gretzinger and Skylar Huber; great-grand-daughter, Aaliyah Griffin; sisters, Donna (Leo) Mohnen, Larsen, Shirley Peeters, Wisconsin, Myrna (Phil) Sasman, Clintonville, and Londa (Randall) Phillips, Clintonville; brothers, Roger (LaVonne) Prellwitz, Shawano, Bob (Beth) Prellwitz, Clintonville, Jim (Sonja) Prellwitz, Black Creek, Donald (Patricia) Prellwitz, Neenah, Willis Prellwitz, Clintonville, and Larry (Vickie) Prellwitz, Clintonville; numerous nieces and nephews; and special canine companion, Hauser.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, with the Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
