William C. “Bill” Peterson

William C. “Bill” Peterson, 84, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, Nov. 28, 2013, following a battle with colon and liver cancer. Bill was born May 10, 1929, in the town of Belle Plaine, son of the late Lynn and Margaret (Mervyn) Peterson. He attended country schools and farmed for his entire career. His priority was raising hogs. Bill enjoyed buzzing around the countryside on his John Deere Gator. He stayed busy cutting wood and tending to his vegetable garden. Bill was very nurturing and caring by nature. He was always young at heart and taught his nephews the proper way to get into mischief. He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Peterson, of the town of Belle Plaine, and his dog, Maggie; three nephews, Mike Sullivan, Bob (Carol) Wandel and Tim (Yvonne) Wandel; special friends, Steve and Doris Kersten and Dennis Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Sullivan and Jean Gray; nephew, Ron (Nancy) Wandel; and brothers-in-law, Robert Wandel and Lee Sullivan. Funeral services for Bill Peterson will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. Pastor Marty Black will officiate. Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery, town of Belle Plaine. Relatives and friends may call at the Peace Church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
