Witt-Birn wrestlers dominate Manawa
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School wrestling team continued to roll Thursday, beating Manawa 77-3.
While losing only one match by decision, the Chargers got pins from Gavin Czerwonka (126 pounds), Griffin Magee (145), Brendin Randall (152), Braxton Potrykus (160), Nick Stringfellow (285) and Zach Urquhart (113).
Bobby Uttecht (138) won by technical fall, 21-2, over Manawa’s Daryn Claussen.
Clintonville girls fall to Xavier
The Clintonville High School girls basketball team opened the season Thursday with a 52-21 loss to Eastern Valley Conference foe Appleton Xavier.
Taylor Carpenter led Clintonville (0-1, 0-1 Eastern Valley) with five points.
Erin Powers led Xavier (3-1, 1-0 Eastern Valley) with 10 points.
Mustangs win CWC opener
The Marion High School boys basketball team opened Central Wisconsin Conference-10 play Thursday with a 56-45 win over Rosholt in Marion.
Marion improves to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in CWC-10, while Rosholt falls to 0-2 and 0-1.
