Hawks swimmers earn 2 victories
The Shawano Community High School boys swim team beat Antigo and Medford in a double meet Thursday in Antigo.
Shawano beat Medford 125-34 and topped Antigo 116-47.
The undefeated Hawks took first in all but two events.
Zach Soper won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:12.61) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.21). Griffin Rades won the 100 backstroke and the 200 individual medley. Rolando Colon won the 400 freestyle (5:30.45). Adrian Tetting won the 200 freestyle (2:27.21).
Shawano also took first in the 200 medley relay (Rades, Christian Kane, Soper, Jake Klister), 200 freestyle relay (Tetting, Klister, Kane, Soper) and 400 freestyle relay (Tetting, Rades, Craig Kraning, Colon).
Eagles dominate Tri-County grapplers
The Menominee Indian High School wrestling team beat Tri-County 68-6 Thursday in Keshena.
Getting pins for Menominee Indian were Antonio Mahkimetas (145 pounds), Vel Hawkins (106), Austin Lyons (285), Keenan Richmond (220) and James Pecore (195).
Menominee Indian’s Patrick White (126) won an 11-7 decision over Tyler Kramer, and Blake Stoehr (120) won a 16-0 technical fall over Eric Buechner.
Menominee Indian also received four forfeits.
Chargers demolish Weyauwega-Fremont
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School wrestling team beat Weyauwega-Fremont 69-3 Thursday in Wittenberg.
Four Chargers wrestlers got pins: Stetson Potrykus (106 pounds), Brenden Randall (145), Braxton Potrykus (160) and Hunter Kreger (182).
Bobby Uttecht (138), Griffin Magee (152) and Alex Peplinsk (170) all won decisions for Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
The only blemish on the night for the Chargers was a 3-0 decision in the heavyweight match with Mason Enjaian losing to Weyauwega-Fremont’s Andy Bork.
The Chargers also earned six forfeits.
Witt-Birn boys fall to Iola-Scandinavia
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys basketball team lost to Iola-Scandinavia 51-27 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 game Thursday in Iola.
Brant Linke led Wittenberg-Birnamwood (2-4, 0-2 CWC-8) with 10 points.
Kristian Welch had 12 points to lead Iola-Scandinavia (6-0, 2-0 CWC-8).
Mustangs rally to beat MIHS
The Menominee Indian High School boys basketball team lost to Marion 56-52 after getting outscored 18-6 in the fourth quarter Tuesday in Marion.
Michael Pecore led Menominee Indian (1-1, 1-1 Central Wisconsin Conference-10) with 17 points. Alphonso Smith and Dallas Madosh added 10 points each.
Aaron Hoffman had 21 points, seven rebounds and five steals to lead Marion (2-3, 2-0 CWC-10). Cole Drefahl added 15 points and Clay Detert had 13.
