Anthony “Tony” Hubert, 82, accepted God’s call to return home to Him on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
Tony was born on April 18, 1931, in Green Bay, the only child of Beatrice Hubert. He was raised in Gresham and attended Gresham Elementary and High School. He joined the military after high school and was an air transport medic with the United States Air Force from 1949-1952 in Japan and Korea during the Korean War.
In 1955, Tony married Mary Sazama in Gresham, and they were blessed with four children. The family lived in Menasha until 1968 when business relocated them to Modesto, Calif.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; four children, Theresa Hubert, Linda Allen and Kathy (Jack) Mulder, all of Modesto, Calif., and Dan (Lynn) Hubert, of Granger, Ind; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Tony was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, the Monsignor Kennedy Council of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Fatima Seniors Club, the Order of Hermann Sons Lodge 50 and American Legion Modesto Post 74. Tony was most proud of his family, his Catholic faith and his service to his country. He served as a member and chaplain for the American Legion Post 74 Honor Guard.
He had a great love of the Green Bay Packers, sports, the outdoors, especially fishing, and hosting friends at the family’s Land O’ Lakes cottage, where he and Mary spent their summers. He always made everyone feel welcome in his home and made new friends wherever he went. Tony will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Burial was at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, Calif.
