Charlotte A. Chapman, nee Hausmann, 86, of West Bend, entered eternal life on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. She was born on June 14, 1927, in Barton to the late Edwin and Helen (nee Van Beek) Hausmann.
Charlotte attended St. Mary’s Parochial School in Barton and graduated from West Bend High School. She was united in marriage to Leroy Chapman on June 14, 1947, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in Barton.
Charlotte owned and operated the Barton Gift Shop and also worked at the Sears store in West Bend for many years until her retirement. After retiring, Charlotte and Leroy enjoyed their winter home in Tucson, Ariz., and they also enjoyed their cottage on Washington Lake in Shawano. She was a member of the Shawano Lake Lioness Club. She loved gardening, shopping, golfing and playing bridge.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy; three children, Donna (Peter) Heffington, of Shawano, Tom (Christine) Chapman, of Daphne, Ala., and Chuck (Jennifer) Chapman, of West Bend; a daughter-in-law, Susan Chapman, of Menomonee Falls; eight grandchildren, Tory (Carrie) Wiedmeyer-Olson, Terry (Michele) Olson, Jeremy Chapman, Katy Chapman, Andrea Krebs, Clayton Chapman, Staci (Adam) Gruse and Annie Chapman; six great-grandchildren, Allyson, Ryan, Aaron, Tyler, Macey and Rece; five sisters, Marcella (Ray) Boden, of Hartford, Pat Groh, of West Bend, Helen Hausmann, of West Bend, Therese Kohn, of West Bend, and Frances Wilhelmi, of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and her beloved dog, Honey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven Chapman; and two brothers, Vincent Hausmann and Eugene Hausmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 20, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, 1610 Monroe St., West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Martin’s Cemetery in Cecil on Saturday at noon.
