David H. Klatt

David H. Klatt, 77, of Cecil, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital with his family at his side. David was born on Feb. 2, 1936, in Milwaukee. He was the son of the late Ralph and Anita Hale Klatt. In 1959, David moved to California, where he met and married Alice Hibbard on Dec. 1, 1962, in Riverside, Calif. In 1974, he and his family returned to Wisconsin, where he worked as both a farmer and painter, by trade. Besides spending time with his family, David enjoyed dancing and ice skating. He was also an avid vintage car enthusiast. He enjoyed spending time with his boys at the beach, at a picnic or on a bicycle ride with his wife and sons. Yet, he was never very far from an ice cream shop. More recently, Gramps could be seen attending sporting events for his grandchildren. David will be remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Alice; three sons, Jeffrey (Dawn) Klatt, of De Pere, John (Sarah) Klatt, of Shawano, and Paul (Carilee) Klatt, of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Krysta and Alyssa Klatt, Christopher (fiancé Sarah) and Aaron Klatt, Andrew, Ryan, Kirsten and Ethan Klatt; and a sister, Mary (Harold) Sunderland, of Santa Rosa, Calif. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil from 2-4 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in David’s name. Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil is assisting the family. The family wishes to thank DaVita Dialysis Center in Shawano, St. Vincent Hospital medical and nursing staff, and also De Pere Fire and Rescue, and Police Department. www.zastrowfuneralhome.com
