Opal M. Lohmiller, 84, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, Dec. 26, 2013, at the Appleton Medical Center, where she had been a patient for the past 12 days.
Opal was born on Oct. 3, 1929, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Robert and Ella (Huebner) Krueger.
She attended St. James Lutheran Grade School and later Shawano High School, graduating from Shawano High in 1946. Following high school, Opal began her lifelong career in the banking industry.
On June 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Lohmiller at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The couple has lived in Shawano for more than 50 years.
At the time of her retirement in 1994, Opal held the position of vice president of the Citizen State Bank in Shawano.
Opal was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. She loved to cook and bake, but her true love was being a great mother, grandmother and a loving wife to her husband.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas, of Shawano; three loving children, Tom (Gena) Lohmiller, of Fort Myers, Fla., Tim (Kathy) Lohmiller, of Shawano, and Ann Renee Halverson, of La Crosse; five grandchildren, Tyler (Becky) Lohmiller, Kyle Lohmiller, Haylea, Hayden and Shayna Halverson; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Owen Lohmiller. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Carl Krueger, and two sisters, Doris Koeller and Inez Druckrey.
Funeral services for Opal Lohmiller will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at St. James Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials to St. James Lutheran Church in the name of Opal Lohmiller.
