Matthew Morris “Matt” Bystol, 43, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, in Vilas County. Born on Dec. 17, 1970, in Shawano, he was the son of Mike and Barbara (Lahti) Bystol.
After graduating from Shawano High School in 1988, Matt attended Fox Valley Technical Collage for one year. In 1991 Matt enlisted with the United States Marines and served his country for nearly two years. After service, Matt worked as a press operator for Creator Services in Clintonville. When not at work he enjoyed musky fishing, hunting and spending time in the Eagle River area. Matt was a member of the Figure 8 Musky Club.
Matt is survived by his parents, Mike and Barb Bystol of Shawano, and a brother, Scott (Jill) Bystol, of Grand Junction, Colo.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by Shawano American Legion Post 117. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A parish wake service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m.
